As part of the survey, we asked the municipalities to tell us how they finance their trash and recycling programs. The information in this table only reflects financing arrangements where the city plays a role. It does not include private contract relationships between trash haulers or recyclers and their customers since that is likely to be a direct service fee arrangement.

In some cases, the municipality indicated that the trash service or curbside recycling service was provided on a fee-for-service basis, but did not provide us with details about the billing arrangements. In these cases, we assigned the municipality to a general fee category rather than make assumptions about how the fee might be structured. The fee arrangements vary from municipality to municipality, and each community should be contacted directly for the most current information concerning their fee schedule.

Where there is no information, we are still working to verify the arrangement. Please let us know if any of this information is in error or needs updating.
